1. Blocked Vents and Lint Buildup

Pull the lint screen and clean it every load; if water beads on it instead of soaking through, wash off the fabric-softener film with soap and a brush. Then disconnect the flexible vent hose from the back and clear it, and check that the exterior vent flap opens freely and isn't blocked by lint, a bird's nest, or crushed ducting behind the appliance.
2. A Tripped Thermal Fuse
The thermal fuse is a one-time safety device that blows permanently if the dryer overheats, usually because of the airflow problem above. On many electric dryers, a blown thermal fuse kills the heat while still allowing the drum to turn. It cannot be reset; it must be replaced. If you're comfortable unplugging the dryer and removing the back panel, you can test the fuse for continuity with a multimeter.
